We’re happy to announce that we’ve been listed on IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework list of approved CMP providers. The IAB is a leading organization that oversees principles and provides best practices and guidance for the advertising and marketing industries.

As IAB describes it, “The List will facilitate adherence to the Framework policy and provide transparency into the ways companies intend to comply with GDPR requirements, centralizing participants into one location. Publishers can use the List to view the vendors who are participating in the Framework, and to determine which vendors to include in the transparency and consent user interface they make available on their sites.”

GDPR
A CMP is used to comply with GDPR, the General Data Protection Regulation mandated by the EU (European Union), which consists of 28 European member countries. The GDPR sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information of individuals with the EU. Most websites that are operated by U.S. companies follow GDPR rules because they may have site users who are from or located in the EU, which makes them required to comply or face heavy fines.

Consent Management Platform
A Consent Management Platform (CMP) helps publishers manage users who have given explicit consent on their websites to track user data. These permission levels are passed on to advertisers and marketers so only users who gave permission are shown targeted advertisements. Playwire’s CMP is now included on IAB Europe’s approved CMP list, whose goal is to promote the development of this innovative sector and ensure its sustainability by:

  • Shaping the regulatory environment
  • Demonstrating the value digital advertising brings to Europe’s economy, to consumers and to the market
  • Developing and facilitating the uptake of harmonized business practices that take account of changing user expectations and enable digital brand advertising to scale in Europe

Since Playwire maintains offices in the UK and Australia and has just recently expanded to Asia, maintaining a CMP for our publishers is an important initiative for the company. We continue to lead the way among digital publisher representation firms worldwide and anticipate that this is just the first of many initiatives for us in 2019!
