Now that you know best practices, let’s cover how to actually get approved on specific demand sources.

As a reminder, if you are just getting started, we’d recommend starting with Google AdSense or Google Ad Manager. Work to try and get your site approved by Google first, then move on to other demand sources.

We’ve found that if you are rejected by Google, which is pretty rare, you are highly likely to be rejected by most other major SSPs as well.

So, if this is your first time putting ads on your site, start with Google and if rejected, work to make changes until you are accepted.

For the most part, the process to apply to have your website monetized through an SSP is relatively consistent. You’ll go to that SSP’s website and fill out a form in order to start the conversation, they’ll review your website and then determine if you are a good candidate to monetize through their service.

Keep in mind that as a small to mid-size publisher, it is not uncommon to have your application rejected when reaching out directly to an SSP. But, you can still access demand from these SSPs through a partner like Playwire or a header bidding wrapper if necessary.

In order to provide the most support we can as you embark on this process, we’ve created a resource that lists many of the major SSPs and provides links to reach out and contact them in order to submit your site.

Just click the link to the “Best Practices for Getting Your Website Approved on SSPs and Programmatic Demand Sources” article, in the resources section provided with this module and scroll down to the section titled “How to Apply for Monetization Through Major SSPs”.

You’ll find a listing of most of the major SSPs along with direct links to the form submission page you’ll need to submit your site. Select the SSPs you’d like to apply to and simply submit your website.
