Playwire Promotes Lucy Bursey to Director of Technical Product Management

A global technology company specializing in revenue amplification for publishers and content creators, Playwire has built it's success piece by piece, brick by brick, over the past decade and a half by building the very best team in the business. Now, more than ever before, Playwire is growing exponentially, which wouldn't be possible without the support of a variety of extraordinary Playwire team members including recently promoted Director of Technical Product Management, Lucy Bursey.

Get to Know Lucy

A member of the team for about seven years now, Lucy began her time at Playwire as an Account Coordinator. Over time, Lucy realized that while she loved Playwire, sales were not the right fit but rather, tech was where she was meant to be. Now, as a leading member of our tech team, Lucy spends her days both checking in on the progress of current technical efforts and planning for upcoming efforts. Among an array of additional tasks that come up throughout the day, her daily tasks include:

  • Writing up clear tasks and user stories for the developers to work on
  • Handling weekly review priorities and providing status updates of technical development
  • Highlighting risks to schedule
  • Keeping stakeholders apprised of project progress and expected releases
  • Developing required documentation for upcoming project

Now, some may know this, while others may not, but "nationally, the composition of the tech sector workforce in 2019 consisted of 5.1 million men and 2.5 million women, translating to 67% and 33%, respectively." With that being said, being a woman working in tech is a pretty important part of Lucy's story, as is the concept of promoting talented, smart individuals regardless of gender throughout the Playwire team.

"I'm incredibly proud to be a woman working in the tech space.  Something that I love, though it is a traditionally male-dominated industry, is that it does not feel that way working at Playwire.  The number of not only women but talented, diverse individuals across the board I see at the company kicking a&# and doing a fantastic job is inspiring. If you do a good job and you work hard, it is recognized," said Lucy, "something that is always in the back of my mind [though] is being a mom. I have a daughter and a son, and I want to make them proud and set a good example for them to show them that if you push yourself and do your best, nothing can hold you back, anything is possible."

When asked to describe Lucy as an employee, Senior VP, Product, Noah Forster, said, "Lucy is a natural-born facilitator who makes challenging work enjoyable. She's a great teammate — a rare blend of technical expertise, passion, and work ethic," continuing, "She can always be depended on to execute against critical initiatives, while keeping the strategic focus on the end user. Lucy's contributions to Playwire's products and solutions have played a key role in our growth and success."

Congratulations on your recent promotion, Lucy! We know the future is bright for Playwire with individuals such as yourself leading the way.
