The Playwire team has gotten the year off to a strong start with a few big updates that noticeably impact publishers. In February, the most notable of those updates was adding ad pod support to our Trendi video player.

Typically, the pattern inside video players goes like this: 30-second ad, content, 30-second ad, content and so on. By adding pod support, we’re allowing publishers to run, for example, two 15-second ads inside that 30-second ad slot instead of a single 30-second ad.

Why does this matter? It’s an opportunity to display more ads, which generates more revenue, without negatively affecting the user experience. The classic win-win.
